A perfect case study in what happens when cutting-edge telecom upgrades collide with zero-trust banking security:

Returning from international roaming, Airtel’s 5G "Fastlane" pushed a silent background profile update to my SIM. Axis Bank correctly detected this as a `SIM_STATE_CHANGED` alert and instantly deregistered my device to prevent fraud. (Security is paramount and the app did its job!).

To re-register, the app sends a hidden verification SMS. Airtel successfully delivered the text to the bank, but dropped the delivery receipt on its way back. My phone logged a local "Failed" error, and the app instantly aborted the setup.

No app access meant no mobile OTPs, which locked me out of internet banking entirely. I was completely stranded.

After a useless call to Airtel customer care, I took it upon myself to solve this, as I was locked out of my account.

๐Ÿฑ. I sent SMS messages to friends. They successfully received them, but my Airtel SIM logged them as "unsent" (my secondary Jio SIM worked perfectly).

I finally reverse-engineered the problem. The fix? Manually downgrading my phone to legacy 3G. Bypassing the 5G data layer forced the network to send a traditional SMS receipt, and the app finally registered. (The moment I switched back to 4G/5G, it failed again). Downgrading to a 3G network just to send an SMS is ridiculous, especially since banks like Axis don't allow registration over Wi-Fi, making 3G registrations a nightmare.

Rolling out a "premium" Fastlane 5G feature without testing how it handles critical legacy protocols like SMS receipts is highly irresponsible. I've escalated this to Airtel’s Nodal Officer. An average customer shouldn't have to troubleshoot a telecom routing bug just to access their own money.

While the bank isn't at fault, digital product teams should take note: if telecom networks unreliably drop acknowledgment packets, banks may need to evaluate server-side receipt checks instead of relying exclusively on easily broken local device logs.

Has anyone else been trapped in this 5G SIM-binding loop? Surely, I'm not the only one?

It doesn't mean avoiding hard work, skipping difficult conversations, or choosing comfort over growth.

Most people run this broken equation:

Work hard → Achieve success → Then be happy.

The goalpost always moves. The promotion arrives, and a new target appears. The deal closes, and the high fades by Monday. As Harvard positive psychology researcher Shawn Achor noted:

Flip the equation.

Happiness belongs at the beginning of the journey, grounding your decisions before you start.

When you operate from a clear, grounded state:

  • Your decisions become less reactive and more reasoned.

  • Relationships are built on genuine trust rather than quick transactions.

  • You take on tough challenges because they matter, while keeping stress in check.

  • You push through uncomfortable growth without wearing exhaustion as a badge of honor.

  • You aim for high performance without sacrificing your well-being along the way.

Great leaders bring a sense of fulfillment to their work from day one, which is usually why the results follow.

Build the foundation first. The rest follows.

๐Ÿ’ฌ Are you chasing happiness as a reward, or using it as your starting point?

Western Media and their hackneyed third-world filters

August 04, 2026 , , 0 Comments

Western media’s urge to filter India through a "third-world" lens has moved far beyond lazy journalism. It’s now pure comedy.

Consider a recent glaring example:
  •   Article topic: Multi-billion dollar investments in India’s railway infrastructure.
  •   Image selected: A shirtless man in a lungi.
  •   The reality: A quick reverse image search reveals the photo isn’t even from India. It was pulled from a 2020 Facebook post in Sri Lanka.

When major media houses bypass basic factual verification just to attach an image that fits a pre-existing poverty trope, it highlights deep structural issues in modern editorial rooms:
  • Confirmation Bias Over Truth: Sourcing imagery that matches a fixed aesthetic rather than the actual subject matter.
  •  Failure of Visual Verification: Reusing unverified social media photos without basic reverse-image checks.
  • Erosion of Editorial Standards: Treating complex global progress as a monolithic trope.

When you ignore the absolute basics of journalism just to preserve a stereotype it is pure daftness.

Visuals carry as much editorial weight as headlines. If journalism is meant to inform rather than reinforce legacy bias, it’s time major outlets retire the "third-world" lens for good.

What are your thoughts on how visual framing influences global perceptions of emerging markets?
